Australian community climate organisations and activists have called on the Federal Government to introduce a 25% tax on gas exports ahead of the May budget, as major gas corporations make soaring profits amid the current energy crisis.
They propose revenue from the tax to be directed to cost of living relief, frontline communities of climate-fuelled disasters, and an accelerated transition away from fossil fuels.
