Women in Hospitality Expected to Manage Workplace Harassment and Gender-Based Violence

Gender-based violence and sexual harassment continues to be a pervasive problem within the hospitality industry. A new report from the University of Newcastle finds women and gender-diverse workers are bearing the brunt of managing and responding to harassment and violence in the workplace.

The Wire’s Mary-Kate Hannagan spoke to Dr Julia Coffey, Senior Lecturer in Sociology at The University of Newcastle, and co-author of the report, to chat about the research and the recommendations for industry and government moving forward.
