‘The Hidden One’ – Extremely rare Australian lizard needs protection

An extremely rare and endangered lizard known as Kungaka, has been now formally designated as a new species by researchers.

Inhabiting Matawinji National Park in the lands of traditional owners in far north-west New South Wales, the reptile has fewer than 20 individuals known to exist.

So why is this lizard so important and what conservation efforts are needed to protect it?
