Tasmanian Coroner’s Office under fire over Aboriginal remains

The Tasmanian Coroner’s Office is facing serious backlash after dropping Aboriginal remains in paper bags at the Tasmanian Aboriginal Centre.

The ancestral remains were part of two separate coronial investigations, returned to the center evidence bags without prior warning,

According to the Coroner’s Act of 1995, the Tasmanian Aboriginal Centre must be notified if the coroner’s office suspects human remains may be Aboriginal.
