SA government moves to ban social media for teens under 14

South Australian children and teens under 14 could be banned from social media with legislation now under review.

In a nation first, the move by SA government comes as concern for children’s wellbeing and online safety continue to grow.

The state government has appointed former Chief Justice of the High Court Robert French AC to begin legal examination into a social media ban.

While an advocate of online safety applauds the ban saying “social media presents a profound risk of harm for kids,” some experts remain sceptical.
