In the heart of Adelaide’s riverbank precinct, gas giant, Santos faced pushback from climate activists who rallied outside their annual general meeting today.
Environmental groups, politicians, First Peoples, and neighbouring countries joined to oppose gas project expansion. Protesters pointed to the Narrabri project, Beetaloo Basin fracking, and the offshore Barossa project, raising concern about threat to climate and cultural sites.
This comes as Santos urge policymakers to support oil drilling.
Meanwhile, an Australian Conservation Foundation survey shows three-quarters of South Australians want gas companies to pay a 25% tax for environmental damage.
