Police should not march at Mardi Gras: Thorpe

This weekend, the LGBTIQ+ community will march at Mardi Gras in Sydney.

But this year’s celebrations come just days after the deaths of Jesse Baird and Luke Davies at the hands of a serving police officer, reigniting the conversation about the police’s relationship with queer Australians.

Police will be able to march out of uniform.

Independent Senator Lidia Thorpe was at the Mardi Gras last year protesting the police’s involvement in the event, but was escorted out.
