A hospital in Newcastle is in the spotlight about alleged cover-ups and intimidation.
Some staff from the Calvary Mater have reportedly told the Health Services Union safety risks were downplayed and workers who raised concerns faced pressure or threats.
The union has included these claims in a submission to the NSW Parliamentary Inquiry into the hospital’s management.
The submission calls for independent audits of maintenance work, protections for staff who raise concerns, and greater transparency in how the hospital is managed under the public-private partnership model.
The Wire contacted Calvary Mater Hospital for comment and did not respond to our request at the time the story was published.
