National Apology 18 years on

The 18th anniversary of Former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd’s apology to the Stolen Generations was marked on the 13th of February.  

In 2008, then Prime Minister Kevin Rudd made a formal apology to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who were forcibly removed from their families, community, and Country under cultural assimilation policies.  

This year, 87 million dollars has been announced by Minister for Indigenous Australians Malarndirri McCarthy to boost support services for the Stolen Generation survivors, including family tracing and reunification services.
