A national helpline for First Nations and Torres strait islander communities will roll out a text-based service to address critical gaps in crisis support.
13Yarn received $13.9 million to boost the expansion with the platform recognised as a vital resource since its inception in 2022.
The announcement came at recent Closing the Gap speeches with Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese, acknowledging shortfalls on these targets,
highlighting suicide rates as the most urgent area of concern.
Aunty Majorie Anderson, Head of Indigenous Affairs at Lifeline was instrumental in designing and managing 13Yarn – she says funding reflects continued calls from her organisation and believes the new service will align with growing community needs.
