Federal government announces visa system clampdown

The federal government has committed $50 million dollars to clampdown on visa fraud and eradicate criminal exploitation of the Australian migration system by human traffickers. Immigration compliance rules are set to be tightened and permanent investigation teams will be introduced as part of the federal government reform of the migration system. It comes after the scathing findings of the Nixon Review showed there was widespread corruption of Australia’s visa system including the exploitation of vulnerable temporary migrants.
