Birthing On Country program improves birth outcomes for Indigenous women

A Birthing on Country program in Nowra, New South Wales is improving birth outcomes and providing more integrated healthcare for Aboriginal women and their families

Waminda is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation whose wrap-around support programs could serve as an inspiration for similar services around the country.

The Birthing on Country movement aims to redress the impacts of colonisation by returning maternity care to First Nations communities.
