The NSW government’s new rezoning policy is set to transform the housing landscape around Sydney’s train and metro stations, with the aim of boosting housing supply through higher-density developments. In some areas, like Mosman, this has led to significant financial opportunities for homeowners.
Groups of residents who have sold their properties to developers have pocketed millions, with one group in Lindfield recently making $75 million from land sales. However, this policy has sparked concerns of inequality, as some areas just outside the rezoned boundaries have been left out of the windfall, leaving those homeowners feeling overlooked and at a disadvantage.
