Outrage over protest policing prompts demand for review

More than 50 organisations are calling for an independent inquiry into NSW protest policing.

The push follows government crackdowns during nationwide demonstrations opposing Israeli President Isaac Herzog’s visit.

Thousands rallied across major cities, while in Sydney laws and special police powers were invoked, with the visit declared a “major event”.

Protesters allege excessive police force, claims the NSW Premier has openly defended, sparking national debate over anti-protest laws and civil liberties.
