Is language a link for lower alcohol consumption in Indigenous people?

New research has revealed older Indigenous people who speak their cultural language at home are less likely to drink alcohol.

A collective of Australian universities interviewed almost 800 Indigenous people over 16 years of age from across Australia, asking them to record their drinking habits on an online app.

Professor Kylie Lee from La Trobe University says contrary to stereotypes, there is little difference between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and non-Indigenous Australians who drink.
