Doctors for the Environment Australia (DEA) have won a Federal Court order enabling it to challenge the approval of the Scarborough Gas Project’s environmental plan (EP).
DEA will allege the approval of the EP didn’t comply with regulations or meet the necessary criteria, and shouldn’t have been approved by Australia’s offshore energy watchdog, NOPSEMA.
The court has also granted a maximum costs order, limiting the amount NOPSEMA and energy Giant Woodside could seek in legal costs if DEA’s case were unsuccessful.
